The Representation of Native Americans in Contemporary Society
For this project, a tipi made of nylon and conduit piping was taken around the country and used as a mobile exhibition and conversation starter. Issues of representation, stereotyping, authenticity, mascots and halloween costumes were discussed with visitors.
An accompanying children's exhibit addressed the same issues in a more approachable way.
Visitors received one of the following stickers as a gift in hopes they would continue to consider the ideas presented after leaving the pop-up exhibit.
