Baxoje Language Community Arts Project
The aim of this community arts project was to promote Baxoje/Jiwere language learning and to increase the visibility of the language on and off the reservation. Tribal members in the Ioway, Otoe and Missouria Tribes were invited to submit phrases in the language to be turned into bumper stickers. Phrases were proofread for accuracy by Jimm Goodtracks (language expert and scholar) and Lance Foster (Tribal Historic Preservation Officer). In addition, a series of road signs were installed on the Iowa Tribe of Kansas & Nebraska Reservation.
